What Is BBL?

How does IPL Work?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, also known as photofacial, is a non-invasive cosmetic skin treatment that uses high-intensity pulses of visible light to improve the color, texture, and overall appearance of the skin through a non-invasive procedure. BBL treatment will selectively destroy melanin (pigment) and hemoglobin (red blood cells) to produce clearer, more beautiful skin.  It can help reduce the visible damage caused by sun exposure, minimize or remove age spots, freckles, and unwanted hair, clear facial redness and rosacea, and improve the appearance of scars and vascular lesions, such as spider telangiectasias and broken facial veins.

    The following measures are taken to ensure comfort during the BBL treatment:

    Cooling Gel: Prior to the BBL treatment, a cooling gel is applied to the skin. This gel helps to cool the skin’s surface and provides a protective barrier, reducing heat sensation and potential discomfort.

    Built-in Cooling Systems: The Sciton BBL device has built-in cooling mechanisms, with a chilled crystal tip for contact cooling, which helps to cool skin during treatment, further reducing discomfort.

    Temperature Sensors:  The Sciton BBL device has built-in temperature sensors to provide real time feedback during treatments. This is combined with an infrared thermometer used to gauge the skin temperature and effectively control heating.
